　　過年前要做什么？

　　大年初一還有哪些規(guī)矩需要注意嗎？

　　Rule number one. No medicine on the first day of the lunar New Year, because it is believed that if you take any medicine on the first day of the year, you will be ill all year. That is no good.

　　第一條規(guī)矩。農(nóng)歷大年初一不能吃藥，據(jù)說如果你在初一吃了藥，你全年身體都會不好。這可不妙。

　　第二條，不能喝粥。粥是鄉(xiāng)下人吃的東西，吃了窮人的東西你就會變窮，新年第一天喝了粥，一年都會窮。

　　新年常考單詞

　　1、農(nóng)歷：這個詞對現(xiàn)在的孩子們來說已經(jīng)比較陌生了，他們現(xiàn)在過生日一般都是公歷生日。隨著中國城市化的逐步加快，農(nóng)歷的意思好像不太好理解了。英語中農(nóng)歷叫做“l(fā)unar calendar”，其中“l(fā)unar”表示“月亮的”，更能揭示農(nóng)歷的由來，也就是“取月相的變化周期為月的長度”的歷法。

　　2、祭灶和掃房：農(nóng)歷的臘月二十三或者二十四被稱為小年，這一天人們會祭灶和掃房。祭灶的英文表達是“offer sacrifices to Kitchen God”，很多孩子不知道什么是祭灶，來看看英文的翻譯吧，多么直白，“祭”就是“offer sacrifices（祭祀）”、“灶”就是“Kitchen God（灶王）”；掃房是“spring cleaning”，為了跟普通的打掃房間區(qū)分，專門加上了“spring”。

　　掃房是為了去除晦氣，英語中叫做“get rid of the ill-fortune”。

　　3、辦年貨：辦年貨其實就是購物，我們知道購物是do some shopping，所以辦年貨就順其自然地成為了“do Spring Festival shopping”。

　　4、貼春聯(lián)：先來看看對聯(lián)的英文吧，couplet，這個詞很有意思。可以認為它是“couple加上后綴-let”組成的，其中“couple”是夫妻或一對，“-let”后綴表示“小”，直接組合后可以看作是“小小的對子，小夫妻”，想想對聯(lián)確實都成對出現(xiàn)，有些小夫妻的趕腳呢：）貼春聯(lián)，就叫做paste spring couplets了，其中的paste還表示“漿糊”的意思，把貼春聯(lián)用的粘合劑都說出來了，真是神級表達啊！

　　5、燃爆竹：爆竹的英語是“firecracker”，這個單詞挺有講究的。先看crack，它能表示“爆裂”的意思，cracker就是“爆裂的東西”了，爆竹需要用火點燃，就成了“firecracker”了。燃爆竹就是light the firecrackers。

　　6、守歲：守歲是在除夕夜熬夜迎接新年的到來。除夕夜的英語是“New Year's Eve”，哈哈，這個有些直接模范“Christmas Eve（圣誕前夜）”。守夜就是“staying-up”，哎，翻譯成英文后馬上感覺low了很多，文化底蘊都少了，誰讓咱們有五千年的文明呢：）

　　7、拜年：大年初一終于來了，我們會給親戚朋友拜年，送上新年祝福。拜年是“pay New Year's call”；同時，我們還會送上新年祝福，比如“I wish you prosperity（恭喜發(fā)財）”、“May all your wishes come true（心想事成）”、“Everything goes well（吉祥如意）”等等。當然了，如果是小孩子的話，還可以拿到紅包“red packet”，里面有相當豐厚的壓歲錢“l(fā)ucky money”哦！

　　The Spring Festival is the most important festival in China. It is on January 1st according to the Chinese lunar calendar(中國的農(nóng)歷). It’s China’s New Year’s Day. So usually a month before the festival people begin to buy food clothes and decorations(裝飾) for houses.

　　About a week before the festival housewives are busy preparing the new year dinner. And they will do a lot of washing and cleaning in the houses. People who are far away on business are hurrying to return home for the new year’s family reunion（團聚）.

　　On New Year Eve each family will gather tighter eating talking and watching TV for almost the whole night. And there will be some interesting programmes on TV. The children are the happiest of all because they can get presents from parents or grandparents.

　　On Lunar New Year’s Day after getting up people will eat dumplings. When they meet their neighbours or friends they’ll say: “Happy New Year!”
